DAY 1 - Airport – Negombo

I will meet and assist you on arrival at the Airport and escort you to Negombo Hotel. Overnight stay at Negombo

DAY 2 - Sigiriya Drive : approximately 5 hrs.

After having breakfast at the hotel, we transfer from Negombo to Sigiriya. En route we drive through pineapple cultivation. I will stop there for few minutes to give you chance to taste a fresh piece of pineapple. Then the rest of journey drives through green forests and green environmental roads. At last you will reach the 5th century King Kassapa territory.

Evening visit Sigiriya Lion Rock

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Sigiriya Lion Rock. This is an ancient rock fortress and palace, ruin situated in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka. The remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures surrounded it. It is a popular tourist destination, also known for its Ancient paintings (frescos), very similar to those in the Ajanta Caves of India. T he fortress was built during the reign of King Kassapa I (AD 477 – 495), and it is one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. (World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO 1982). Overnight stay at Sigiriya.

DAY 3 - Polonnaruwa and Safari at Minneriya

After breakfast i will guide you to the city of palaces in Polonnaruwa which was second most ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms. The kingdom was first established by King Vijayabahu I as his capital and he was the King who defeated Chola invaders in 1070 AD to reunite the country once more under a local leader. (World Heritage site declare by UNESCO 1982)

Afternoon we drive to Safari at Minneriya National Park. This national park is the most famous national park to see wild animals such as Elephants, Deer, Languor ect. Overnight stay at Sigiriya

DAY 4 - Dambulla, Nalanda Gedige, Spices and Herbs Garden, Temple of the Tooth

After Breakfast Proceed to Kandy. En route we visit major attraction of Dambulla, it is Dambulla cave temple complex; for some, the most impressive sight in Sri Lanka. There are colorful and very well preserved paintings and statues of Buddha inside the caves, which date back to the 1st century BC. (World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO 1991)

Hence visit Nalanda Gedige, Spice and herbs Garden, Aluvihara Royal Temple and Hindu Temple at Matale.

Evening enjoy with Cultural Dance Performance at Kandy: It has become most distinctively Sinhalese and is readily associated with the idea of a national dance. This development can be explained by the fact that the Kandyan kingdom was the last of the Sinhala kingdoms to fall under foreign rule (1815).

Late evening we visit Temple of the Tooth.

Temple of the Tooth:  According to the legend, the tooth relic was taken from the Buddha as he lay on his funeral pyre. It was smuggled to Sri Lanka 313 AD, hidden in the hair of Princess Hemamala who fled the Hindu armies besieging her father’s kingdom in India. It immediately became an object of great reverence and was enshrined in a series of nested jeweled reliquaries. The tooth relic was brought out for special occasions and paraded on the back of elephants, which are sacred to the Buddha. Where it survived numerous attempts to capture and destroy it. When the capital was moved to Kandy, the tooth was taken to this new city and placed in temples built to honor it. Overnight stay at Kandy.

DAY 5 - Kandy City Tour; Kandy view point, Colonial Buildings, Botanical Garden and Tea Factory

After Breakfast, I guide you to visit Kandy city including Kandy view point, Colonial Buildings and Botanical Garden.

Kandy city: Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kandy which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The historic city about 520m above sea level surrounded by mountains was known to Sri Lankan Kanda Uda Rata; which means the hill country. Kandy was home to last independent kingdom, which survived two centuries of colonial incursion before finally falling to the British at the beginning of nineteenth century. Visit Botanical garden, colonial city and catch a panoramic view of the picturesque town from Kandy Upper Lake View point.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden: It has more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it you find is the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0, 59 km2), at 460 meters above sea level, and with a 200-day annual rainfall. Overnight stay at Kandy

DAY 6 - Kandy - Nuwaraeliya

After breakfast, we drive from Kandy to Nuwaraeliya.

Nuwaraeliya City tour: Nuwaraeliya meaning “The city of dawn” is the city at the highest elevation about 2000m above sea level in Sri Lankaand its tallest peak, Piduruthalagala (2423m) can be seen from here. The city established by the British in the nineteenth century, known as “Little England” and is a popular holiday resort among Sri Lankans and Tourists due to its cool climate and quaint colonial feel with its bungalows surrounded by hedgerows. In earlier times, Nuwara Eliya was the favored cool-climate escape for English and Scottish pioneers of Sri Lanka’s tea industry. Overnight stay at Nuwaraeliya

DAY 7 - Horton Plains Nature Trail and Ella

will drive you to Horton Plains to enjoy that lovely walk inside that national park. Horton Plains known as “Maha-Eliya” in Sinhala: is a national park in the highlands of Sri Lanka. It lies at a height of more than 2,000 m in the central highlands, and its altitude means that it has a much cooler and windier climate than the lowlands of Sri Lanka, with a mean annual temperature of 16 °C rather than the 26 °C of the coasts. The area was named in 1834 after Lady Anne Horton, wife of Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton, then-governor of Ceylon.

On completion return to Nuwaraeliya and travel by train from Nuwaraeliya to Ella. Overnight stay at Ella.

DAY 8 - GARDA LAKE

Breakfast at the Hotel, To have a small walk around there, we walk to Little Adams peak, Nine arch bridge and Ella bazaar. Overnight stay at Ella.

DAY 9 - Ella to Bentota visiting Galle Fort

After Breakfast i will drive you to Galle. Galle was known as Gimhathiththa (although Ibn Batuta in the 14th century refers to it as Qali) before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, when it was the main port on the island. Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, during the Dutch colonial period. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by the Portuguese in South and Southeast Asia, showing the interaction between Portuguese architectural styles and native traditions. The city was extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. The Galle fort is a world heritage site and is the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers.

DAY 10 - On The Beach

Relaxing on the beach, Overnight stay at Bentota.

DAY 13 - Colombo and city tour

Breakfast at the Hotel, We travel from Bentota to Colombo. Afternoon enjoy the city tour in Colombo.

Colombo City Tour: Enjoy a city tour of Colombo which is the largest city and former administrative capital of Sri Lanka and is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and remnants of a bygone colonial era. The main city is home to a majority of Sri Lanka’s corporate offices, restaurants, entertainment venues.

In this tour you will visit historical, religious and commercial sites of Colombo including National museum, Independent Square and Gangarama temple ext.

DAY 14 - 10th January 19 Departure

Breakfast at the Hotel, Transfer from Colombo to Airport for Departure.
